Renewable energy for mobility
Sunprojects has been an EPC project partner and co-initiator of many extremely innovative sustainable projects for about ten years. One of these projects is Smart Charging in Practice (SLIP). Sunprojects is involved as designer, installer and constructor of the installation.
SLIP marks an important milestone in the use of renewable energy for mobility. Sunprojects has collaborated with several partners to make this project a reality. The project, successfully completed by the end of 2023, demonstrates how locally generated energy can be used directly for electric cars.
The unique aspect of this project is the practical application of a charging station with local solar energy storage as an energy source for an electric car sharing system. The smart charging station, equipped with underground energy storage, communicates seamlessly with the vehicles' reservation system. This ensures that the cars are charged when needed, or when there is an abundance of energy available.
The goal of this project is to power the charging station's batteries directly with the direct current coming from the solar panels. When the demand for energy increases, a smart inverter will convert the direct current from the batteries to alternating current, as is common on the regular power grid.
We will remain committed to innovative solar energy solutions that contribute to the further development of renewable energy and mobility.
