Port of Amsterdam achieves its sustainability goal ahead of schedule!
Sunprojects looks back with admiration on the completed project of 5,000 solar panels at Kopraweg in the Port of Amsterdam. As one of the largest ports in Europe, Port of Amsterdam has an important responsibility to contribute to the energy transition and reduce its CO2 emissions. The port company has thus reached its milestone: 260,000 square meters of solar panels.
Thanks to this project, Port of Amsterdam has already realized 250,000 m² solar panels, ahead of schedule. By placing solar panels on customer roofs, such as business premises and warehouses, Port of Amsterdam plays an important role in increasing the region's sustainability. It didn't just stop at roofs; the parking of the port authority is also partly equipped with a solar carport.
Port of Amsterdam has further increased its sustainability ambitions to 350,000 m² by January 1, 2025. In doing so, the port is making a significant contribution to the Municipality of Amsterdam's goal of achieving 300 megawatt peak of renewable energy capacity by 2025.
Sunprojects has worked closely with Port of Amsterdam to carry out the realization of the solar carport and the recently completed roof in an efficient and sustainable manner. This is an important step towards a more sustainable future, showing that it is possible to produce green energy in an efficient and cost-effective way. In doing so, the Port of Amsterdam takes its responsibility in contributing to the energy transition.
