Solar Noise Screen - Alkmaar

On November 9th it was announced that through cooperation between local parties (Sunprojects, K_Dekker, Krinkels BV and Sunconnect) the tender of the Solar Noise Screen has been received. Construction will start at the end of 2021 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

Innovative construction
For the inhabitants of the districts De Horn Zuid and Huiswaard 2 a screen of about two and a half kilometers long and five meters high will be needed for less noise experience. This will protect the residents against noise from the adjacent busy ring road. The Solar Noise Screen consists of a frame with 5,000 solar panels on the road side. This makes it possible to power approximately 412 households. The solar panels can easily be replaced in the future by ones with a higher energy gain or other technical possibilities that contribute to the sustainability of the city.

Background
In September 2019, the environmental permit for the Solar Noise Screen was granted. The screen that will be installed in Alkmaar is a pilot project. We feel honored to be able to contribute as local parties to increasing a liveable and sustainable living environment, where noise reduction and green electricity go hand in hand. The Energieleverende Geluidsscherm also has the potential to be used along many other roads.
