Zonnepark Roodehaan - 11,4 MWp
The Groningen solar farm Roodehaan officially opened in March 2019. Over 81,000 solar panels lie on the 22 hectares of land, providing green energy to more than 3,500 households. This makes Roodehaan the largest solar park in the region.
Many parties were involved in the realization of the park: Hanergy, SolarEnergyWorks and Sunprojects. The project was financed and developed by Sunrock, which develops, realizes and finances large-scale solar parks on land and rooftops.
At Roodehaan, there are exclusively thin-film panels, which, unlike regular panels, generate energy even when there is little sun. When engineering the park, much consideration was given to the park's surroundings: for example, the ditch was kept intact and the neighbor's sheep are given room to graze between the panels.
In addition to providing green energy for 3,500 Dutch households, the park also reduces 6 gigatonnes of CO2 per year.
