Reuver - 1,9 MWp

Not 2,000 pigs, but 3,300 solar panels. Farmer Peter Reijnen and his wife Ine in Reuver exchanged their pig farm for a solar meadow. Their farm is located on the edge of the village, so it was becoming increasingly difficult to meet all the conditions relating to odor and nitrogen. By making use of a national exit scheme for pig farmers, the decision to exit became a lot easier.

All four stables were demolished and in their place 1,900,000 kWh per year of green energy is now produced. Enough to provide energy for approximately five hundred families for a whole year. In addition to the arrival of the solar meadow, the barn roofs have also been fitted with 140 solar panels to cover all of their own use.

Sunprojects is looking forward to continue this interesting concept with other farmers in the Netherlands.
