HTM 't Oor - 1,5 MWp
Solar Park 'Het Oor' is located between the railroad tracks and forms the boundary between The Hague's Mariahoeve district and Voorburg. The name Het Oor is derived from the fact that, when viewed from the air, the site resembles an ear.
Phase 1: On the south side of the site we have installed 4,700 solar panels with a total capacity of 1.5MWp. Normally, the direct current from solar panels is converted into alternating current and supplied to the public grid. The conversion and transmission of energy results in a loss of energy.
Phase 2: Sunprojects has devised an innovative method to prevent energy loss by feeding the generated direct current from the solar panels directly into HTM's overhead line. This will enable streetcars on the Randstadrail route to run on renewable energy!
The follow-up phase, the direct feeding of the generated DC power into the railroad overhead wires combined with battery storage, is also on the roadmap.
